My research focuses on the design and fabrication of miniaturized electrochemical devices.
Miniaturized electrochemical devices range from single micro- and nano- electrodes to arrays of these, and their integration in flow devices (based on mini- and micro- fluidics) mainly for electroanalysis, in chemical sensing and biosensing, but also for the development of new tools that can facilitate the study of chemical and biochemical processes in general.
An important goal of my current research is to develop biosensors for (smart) electroanalytical systems that perform a number of operations and ultimately facilitate a decision making process. These systems integrate (bio)sensors, actuators, power sources, electronics and means to express and/or communicate analytical results quantitatively.
